As with most tragedies, people have begun to wonder what they can do to support efforts at bringing aid and comfort to those affected by the Boston marathon bombings. Interestingly, I saw a debate getting started about whether or not companies should market in times like these.
But, having been on multiple running social media sites, runners and non-runners alike are clamoring for something to purchase to show their support. (Isn't that the American way?)
So, for anyone interested, here's a list of available shirts:
Gone for a Run: http://www.goneforarun.com/Support_Boston_s/1241.htm
Adidas/Official merchant of Boston Marathon: https://www.adidas.com/us/boston-tribute-tee/_/N-1z125b0
And, One More Mile: https://www.onemoremilerunning.com/index.php They have multiple versions available in whatever style you might like. I am, however, posting one that I was involved in. (I created a post with a version of this saying that went viral and OMM is making a T out of it!)
Happy shopping! And, remember, while all of these show visible support, you can also make a donation directly to Boston One Fund: http://onefundboston.org/
When I saw the quote on the OMM shirt, I was very moved and reposted it on my FB page. I assumed it was written by someone who had qualified so I confess that as a fellow back-of-the-packer I like it even more that it was written by a peer. I'm really enjoying your blog. I read other runners' blogs but they are all fast runners so I can't relate to them as much.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! I enjoy writing it and the words for that image just came as I watched the Boston events unfold. I've never created an image like that before much less shared it on Facebook! But, it was the kick in the pants I needed to start this blog. Plus, as several friends suggested, it helped raise some bucks for the cause!
